Recent photos from around our place:

Random Rumblings:

1. How much fun will our little Halloween get-together be for our neighborhood? Planning it for Halloween night from 4:30 - dusk. Then the kids can go off trick or treating. Super excited about this!!!

2. Coming up with some cool ideas for planning Pampered Chef parties and eager to get it all going.

3. So eager for the Fall Festival to arrive and END!!! Is that bad???

4. Looking forward to date night tomorrow night. Hitting Phoenix and maybe another watering hole.

5. Why are some people so consistently negative and looking for the bad?

6. Why are some people so secretive and elusive?

7. I sewed the tulle skirt...all by myself. Now, I just need to figure out exactly how to hot glue the ribbon to the waist.

8. I can't believe it is almost October. Our decorations for Halloween are up and ready to go.

Here are some random layouts of photos from the last week or so:

Since it's 12:16 a.m. I can post again and have done so on two different days (even if it was within an hour of the last post). Here are my latest Nifty nines:

  • 2. Fun napkins for your next social gathering.

  • 4. I recently ordered this beautiful print from this very talented artist. She made it for me with a brunette big sis and a blonde little sis...so sweet.
  • 5. Very funky bag for the fall.
  • 6. Totally fun adhesive for special projects.
  • 7. I saw this little tote and knew it had to be mine...so off I went to purchase it and what a great buy!
  • 8. We are searching for new dressers for the girls' bedrooms. This looked so elegant...may need to check into it.
  • 9. Silly but cute Fall tshirt...notice the smile on the acorn's face...it's good to be a nut!!

Hope you've enjoyed the miscellaneous fun things. Happy FALL!!!

09.22.06

Been playing around with some digiscrapping quick fill pages. Here are the results:

Shelly and I hit the consignment sales today. We did well. Ended up with a total of 38 pieces of clothing (Gymbo, Gap, TCP) for $92. I was very pleased. This is in addition to several other sales over the past few weekends where I've found some great deals, as well. I also got some good deals on baby items for John's sister. I was excited about all of those deals. Love having a mission!!!

Life is busy. Lily had cheering practice, a lab study at the local university, and she went with a friend to her gymnastics class this week. Tomorrow she has an early football game and cheering. The rest of the weekend is unplanned and relaxed. Thankfully!! Next week, we're back into busy mode with cheering, PTA meeting, BUNCO meeting, and organizing myself with this Pampered Chef thing. John had a great idea...a couple's PC party! Thought that was kind of cool.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Some random thoughts and things:

1. Why can you feel on top of the world one day and really down in the dumps the next day?

2. Dr. Laura said the following on her radio program this morning: "Your job (as a parent) is not to make them (your children) feel great 24 hours/day every day, but to get them ready for the real world." Wow, that really made me stop and think. We are all so worried that are kids are going to be upset or unhappy, but the fact is, that's life. We need to teach them how to cope with real experiences, not the fake circumstances we are apt to create for them. They will be better people for it.

3. I think I am going to make my pumpkin cream cheese bread today.

4. I need to sort through the mess in the girls' rooms and purge.

5. I wonder why more girls aren't involved in Girl Scouts anymore. I'm thinking about signing Lily up for Brownies.

6. There are two kinds of people...those that enter a room and say, "here I am" and those that enter a room and say, "oh, there you are". A great quote to think about...shared by Bonnie.

7. PTA stuff will keep me busy over the next several weeks.

8. I signed on as a Pampered Chef consultant and I am excited to make something of it.

9. I can't wait for cooler weather...I love the colors of Fall.

10. The girls and I will go on a walk today after homework.

09.18.06

Hello...it's Monday and I am feeling pretty good. I am placing (well trying to) my first Pampered Chef order for some good friends and family members. I hit my price point for staying an active consultant for the next two months! Yeah.

Lily is going to a gymnastics class with her friend from school today. She won't be home until about 7:30-8:00. Late, late day for my girl.

Shelly and I are cleaning, organizing, and making the place look better for Fall. I love Fall!!! Can't wait to feel a cool breeze and enjoy the season in jeans!

John is home from a long weekend golfing with buddies. We missed him while he was gone.

My parents came for a visit this weekend. I hated to see them leave this morning! They are the best. I love having them here and watching them interact with my girls. We are all so fortunate to have one another.

Today is a great day...sunny and happy! Hope your day is the same.

John's mom (Sylvia...aka Bestemor) was here for a visit this past weekend. She came down for Grandparent's Day at Lily's school. Lily was happy to have her there with her. I made a few layouts from the weekend. Lily's first cheerleading game was Saturday afternoon. It was very warm out, but she did such a fantastic job. I was very proud of her. Here are the pictures:

Remembering and hoping that we are practicing the lessons learned from that day...

On September 11th, 2001, I was at home with my then 1 year-old little girl. She was sleeping and I was on the computer. John came online and told me to go turn on the tv that something had happened in NYC involving a plane. I quickly got to the tv to see what was happening and continued watching as the many events unfolded. I remember speaking to my mom and asking her...what is going on mom?...I was scared and even at 35 I wanted the reassurance of my mother.

So, today I hope I remember the lessons I was being taught that day. I hope I love my family more and I let them know that. I hope that I give more of me and demand less of others. I hope I will always want and need the love and support of my parents and those I love. I hope that I remember to say "good bye" and "I love you" as I end conversations. I hope that I will always have hope...because on that day I wasn't so sure I would ever feel hopeful. But, today I do.

Shelly headed off to preschool yesterday without a hitch. She loves her new teachers and was thrilled to see her old friends. On our ride home, she recited all of the names of her buddies. It was a nice day for her and an easy transition back into our usual routine. I like routine and I like being "here". I went to the Y, Stein Mart, Bruegger's Bagel, TJ Maxx, and the grocery store while she was in school. I always love when people ask me...wow, that's great...what will you do with all of that free time?? Hmmm, well, let's see...go to the doctor, the dentist, the hair place, the grocery store, any store, the bathroom...unaccompanied for a few hours. Exciting, huh???

So, here's a layout of Shelly's big day.

09.04.06

For about 28 years of my life I dreaded Labor Day. For each of those years it meant back to school time for me and I never was excited about that. But, for my family now, Labor Day no longer brings on the pangs of anxiety that it once did. Lily has been in school for three weeks and it this point she is very much accustomed to the routines, the teachers, and the friends. And I have been out of school for six years. Wow, hard to believe so much time has passed since Lily was born and I stopped teaching. So, today I say good luck to all of those hard working teachers heading back to school and to the sweet little faces they will encounter tomorrow morning! And…I’m just glad it’s not me.

Here’s a layout of Lily in her cheerleading pose. Cheerleading practice began on Thursday and she loves it!!!
