I am entitling this blog...Blog Hopping! I get so into some people's blogs and then they give me links to go to blogs they like and then those bloggers inspire me with another link and well, like 5 hours later...I'm on the computer reading about people I don't even know. So, I thought I'd spread the disease and let you see some of the bloggers and ideas they are sharing out there in Blog World. Here goes:

1. Cool project.

2. I own one of these albums and was inspired to see what someone else did with theirs.

3. I was a hardcore follower of this woman in the lates 80s/early 90s...sad to see her go.

4. Loving this super cool PINK palace of scrapbooking fun.

5. Company is coming soon and I think this looks like the perfect summer treat.

6. A cute little project that I might try with Lily this summer.

7. Interesting uses for all of those fun items from Ikea.

8. I think these are funny, cute, absurd...so many different adjectives can describe them. But, I liked it enough to bookmark it and create my own...check out the price...yes, that's absurd.

9. Such a precious space. Be sure to read through all of the pages for the adorable photos and ideas.

10. Enjoyed this idea...although I have yet to do this, but it's bookmarked for when I do.

Ok, well those are the little bloggitys I've hit in the last little bit of time. Perhaps this will be a new "column" in my blog...right beside the Nifty Nine. Enjoy. And all blog entries must have a photo...here it is:

Today was a day full of fun and activity. Our first stop was one of the local parks. I packed up sandwiches, chips, frozen grapes, frosted brownies, and drinks and we headed out on our adventure. After a longer than usual walk to the park (where gates had been closed and blocked off to the traffic), we made it to a picnic table for our lunch. As we set up our meal we noticed that we were right in the middle of a fast paced bike race. Super cool to watch and Lily was really impressed with the action. We spent plenty of time watching them do their thing (including crossing the finish line) and then headed to the swings. The girls loved swinging and being together. Lily loves helping Shelly. They also loved munching on an icey treat before heading back on a rather long walk to the car...good for all of us, though. Then it was on to the big event of the day...Lily was picking out her first pet...a fish!!! She selected a female Beta fish. Lily named her Carley and let me pick her middle name...I selected Montana. So, Carley Montana now has a place of prominence on Lily's dresser and Lily is over the moon about her new pet.

Yesterday, the girls and I hit a few garage sales and we ended up with this sweet desk and chair set. It was going for $40 and I paid $30 for it. I was happy with it and Lily loved setting it up in her "classroom".

Tomorrow, Lily will start her basketball camp and I am hopeful it is everything she thought it would be. We'll see. So, all for now and have a happy night.

Fun day here in sunny and warm NC. I took Lily and two of her friends to their last day of VBS this morning. Then Shelly and I went to Once Upon a Child to try to consign some clothes. When I returned they only wanted three items and gave me $3.90 in store credit for them. I was a bit annoyed about this, but decided to just put the stuff on eBay sometime next week. Then we hit Target where I purchased the sweetest cups/mugs (here's a little ode to the mugs):I also found some other items at Target for Lily...these white shorts and also in denim, the blue top, and the High School Musical top (she seemed pleased with all of these and they were all on sale):

Then the girls (all 4 of them) and I went to Steak 'n Shake for lunch and on to the movie. This movie was really cute and perfect for their ages (3-11). They all enjoyed it and although I didn't find it to be hilarious I did think it was cute. Tonight, we are hanging low as John is busy with basketball refereeing. He'll be at it again tomorrow and Sunday with some golf thrown in there. So, all for now. Happy night.

06.21.07

Here is what has been happening in these parts. Lily started VBS and after a day of liking it and one of not liking it, she is back to liking it. Her one concern is that she wanted to be at home to spend time with her family...sweet. Shelly started off the week with a stomach bug and by Tuesday night was feeling better. She and I haven't done too much this week in attempt to get her feeling 100%. Tonight, we are going to a presentation for VBS and tomorrow I have drop off and pick duty for VBS. So, after picking the girls up at church I thought it only appropriate to go see this movie...Evan Almighty. John has basketball refereeing all weekend. So, the girls and I will work on keeping ourselves busy. Next week we have basketball camp for Lily. I am hoping she enjoys it.

I have been busy with scrapbooking...with paper and digital. Here are the results of some of my scrapping:

Randomness:

So, today is library day around these parts. I am getting as excited as the girls are about turning in my books and getting something new. I finished this book:

It was mediocre and an incredibly fast read (what I'm looking for...the fast read part not the mediocre part). This week, I have the following books to capture my interest:

I like the thrill of finishing two books in one week. It is motivating and I feel good about the example I'm setting.

Lily really had fun at VBS and is eager to go back again.

Today I smelled the rubber side of my bath mat while doing laundry and I immediately thought of the summer time and my sisters. There they were at our family's cottage, ready to go swimming with their caps on and rafts in hand. It was about 1973 and the smell of that rubber reminds me of those caps and getting ready to go for a swim in the lake with the muddy bottom. Memories of summer...cool...love good memories and good sisters!!!

Happy day.

Can't believe I posted the Father's Day post yesterday and forgot to include the photos of the two best dads I know. Here they are...

Happy Father's Day...here's to my dad...

He is the greatest guy in the world.
He has taught me so much...
Shown me...
Through example...
How to be a good person...a kind person...a gentle person.
I am blessed.
I KNOW that no matter what...
He is there for me.
No matter what.
Thank you, Dad.
I love you very, very much!
XOXOXOXO

Also, a big hug to my husband for being a great father to his little girls. They love him just as much as I love my dad!!! He's a lucky guy and so are they!!!

We just got back in from our long weekend in Virginia Beach with our family and friends. We attended a great graduation party for our nieces and went to two high school graduations for them. It was a super weekend and made me reflect on so many different things...my own high school graduation (one of my top 5 or 6 days in my life), teaching children and the lifelong effect it has on them and me, and doing the "right thing" even when it might not be the most favorable thing to do. During all of this I also left my camera in its bag the entire time. So no photos and I will leave this post pictureless...gasp!

Lily is off to Vacation Bible School tomorrow morning and is very excited about it. Thanks, Krissy G. for the new Bible. And, that's all for today.

I have a few things to mention here at the blog. So, this will be a bit random.

Last Friday, the girls had a whole day of playing school. Lily set up the school room with a white board, art activity, math worksheets, and story time. We even used our cafeteria trays for lunch. It was fun and, of course, warmed my heart to see her teaching away.

Amidst all of the school fun, I received my prize package from the Making Memories giveaway. The girls and I were all so excited to break into the box. Once we did there was oodles of pink every where!!! From the album, to the brads, to the paper, and stickers, and the ribbon...awesome!!!!!! I was so excited!

On Saturday, I purchased a new iHome boom box for the kitchen. I am so in love with my iPod that I wanted to be able to listen to it in the mornings while I get us breakfast and in the evenings while making dinner. It is super duper cool and I was happy to get a great deal on it...$79.99 regular price, marked down to $65.99 because the car charger was missing, and then 20% off of that! Yippy. Oh, and there was a car charger in it...go figure. Since our new ride has the iPod playing feature in it, the charger wasn't a big deal...but now we have one.

The new iHome led me into doing this...downloading our cds onto iTunes and then making their way onto my iPod. This little adventure took me quite a bit of time. We decided to hang onto the cds, box them up and put them in the attic. OH, and notice my interesting collection of music right there...Faith Hill, Kenny G, John Mayer, Patsy Cline, REM, Martina McBride, and Boys II Men...doesn't get much more random than that! Mixed in here and there, I was able to do a couple more digi layouts. I switched to a new album system and it has really made me feel so much better about how I will save my layouts...both digital and paper can be in the same album and the sizes can vary...very liberating.

Today, we are off to the library. We have decided that Monday will be library day...like that. Well, have a good one and stay cool.

So, today we did lots of little things. These are some of the things we've done and I've seen today:

Using a cool kit from Shabby Princess, I made a cute little birthday reminder. I put the sheets on cardstock front and back and then hole punched it and put them all together.

This is Shelly waking up in the morning with her fuzzy duck haido!

Lily's daddy got her a Nintendo DS Lite and she is loving it. Here is the pretty little pink thing.

I hung up some pictures and items in Shelly's room. They had been sitting there waiting for me to make my move. So I just did it. I still have a pretty pink shelf that needs to go up.

We baked brownies together. This plate is going with us to Lily's horseback teacher.

I looked at my sweet little Humpty Dumpty lamp that is new to my table. This lamp is an original from my childhood...love it.

I wrapped a gift and made a card for a birthday party the girls are attending tomorrow.
I tried a new twist with my hair and curled it backwards! I feel retro (Farrah Fawcettish) with this 'do. And speaking of fuzzy, it looks super fuzzy in this photo...not so much in real life. Also, this hairdo reminds me of wearing Levi cords with a comb in my back pocket...cool, huh?

And my sweet sewing machine waiting for a project while I venture into more scrapbooking. Although, yesterday I did make a nifty little drawstring bag to hold the DS Lite.

So that was our day and soon we will be heading out to horseback riding lessons. Have a good one.

06.04.07

Busy summer day here. We went to the newly renovated Science Museum to check out the Gibbons and the tigers. Cool new place to visit. Then we had some lunch at Red Robin. We rounded out the day with a trip to the library. Lily picked out two non fiction books on dogs, Shelly got some cute books, and I found a couple of sewing books along with this book (very easy read with a few new and different ideas...and I have already finished it):
I felt like we spent a summer day doing some memorable things. Here are a few photos of Lily making some memorable faces:
