Lazy Days of Summer

On this the final day of June, I have some miscellaneous ramblings:

1. We spend a lot of time in the pool. I am so thankful for the pool and the opportunity to have friends enjoy it with us. The girls are loving it, too.

2. Kit the Movie comes out this week and we (the girls) have plans to go see it with several neighborhood moms and their girls...fun!

3. I have not taken many photos this summer. I plan to work on that in July.

4. I am really enjoying the items I purchase at Costco...cheap milk, yummy fruits, and delicious meats.

5. We are grilling out so much more this summer and I love that. Terrific chicken, steak, burgers, dogs...yummy.

6. Lily has been learning to play more independently this summer. Shelly continues to adore spending time with Lily.

7. I am trying to upload photos to a Scotland site for John. It is a very slow process. Some of the photos are HUGE and take forever to upload. I will keep plodding away with it. Still a work in progress.

8. We are planning a pool hopping party (Hop 'Til You Drop) for July. Our pool will host appetizers. Should be tons of fun.

9. Lily purchased this at Justice with her gift card. Money well spent...such a clever and fun craft item for girls. And she keeps on playing with it...that can be rare with many of the things we bring home.

10. Can't believe tomorrow is July!!! Wow, where does the time go???????????

Rain Rain

So happy to see some rain today. The weather here has been continually warm and sunny with very little rain for May and June. So it is a pleasant surprise to see an afternoon rain storm pop onto the scene. It is delaying our trip to Target and Justice this afternoon, but we need the rain...desperately.

Ok...it's official I am my grandmother...I am blogging about the weather. And if she were alive today. She would be doing the same!!!

Funny

Thought I'd slip a funny video post in here. I listen to Bob and Sheri via their podcast and they first turned me on to the Conchords. Super funny. Here's one of my favorites:

All is Well

We picked him up and were home by midnight. We woke up around 8 a.m. and had breakfast. Then I did some laundry and made sandwiches, chips, fruit, and brownies for lunch. We ran errands together with the girls and stopped at the park to enjoy our picnic lunch. Home to relax. We are so thankful to be a little team of 4 again. All is well.

Girl Time

On Wednesday, my sister, niece, good friend, and her daughter all came to NC for a visit. Lily didn't know that the daughter and our good friend were coming. So it was a complete surprise! So fun to see their reaction. Here they are getting out of the car and hugging:

Once the girls got together they were off swimming, setting up spa time, laughing, shopping, and eating. While all of this was going on with the little kids the big girls were doing the same. The laughs were constant. Shelly was so glad that her cousin Krissy was there to help her with her swimming lessons. I am so thankful they were able to come to NC. It was fun spending time with all of them. A super time for all of us. Great to have good friends!

Dental Day

Lily had a dentist appointment with Dr. Scott today. Her pediatric dentist is so terrific and the dental hygenists are great, too. I asked about bringing an apprehensive patient (aka Shelly) in for a visit and wondered if they had any tips for me. The hygenist suggested that we might trying playing dentist at home to help ease her fears. And sure enough, within an hour of returning home, Lily had her dental office up and running. The girls and I had fun and I think that by December, Shelly will be an old pro in the dental chair (thanks to Dr. Lily K. Foster).

Ok, I think that means "enough pictures, already"!

Toothless

BIG NEWS...Shelly lost her first tooth tonight. I can't get over it. She is just a month shy of turning 4 1/2!!! So hard to believe she is losing those little teeth already! It had been loose for awhile and tonight while brushing her teeth before bed, it came right out. I think the whole thing surprised, shocked, and scared her a bit. Notice in the photo of just her mouth you can see a little tiny tear coming from her eye. She was much happier after we assembled the tooth in its pillow and wrote the fairy a note. It will be an exciting morning for her.

Good Byes

Lily finished 2nd grade on Tuesday and is now ready to enter 3rd grade. So hard to imagine. Here she is with her teacher and the many teachers outside waving good-bye to all the children as they left. Such a great school.

After school, we came home to begin making a list of Summer Fun. We have lots to cover on the list and some things that might not get done (ears pierced???). But, at least we have a direction, now.

And today, we waved good-bye to daddy as he headed off to Scotland. We will miss him, but will attempt to keep busy. Can't wait to see him, soon.

Let's Take a Stroll, Shall We????

Thought I'd post some recent updated photos of the pool and the surrounding area. Still some more to do to perfect the look (landscaping, deck railing, and a fence), but it is getting there. Let's begin our walk from the driveway to the back.
(Ok, these are supposed to be in a chronological order, but Blogger is not cooperating...so just follow the numbers 1 - 12...if you can)

The Last Day

Today is Lily's final day of 2nd grade. This one is hitting me hard. I guess I realize that times are changing. We are halfway through the elementary years and moving on to more serious and more difficult learning. I have no concerns about her ability. I just see the future and I know it is all coming upon us faster than we think. In 10 years, she'll be a high school graduate. That's alot to take in right now. So, here are the pictures to browse while I go grab some kleenex.

Off to school, Sisters, On the golf cart at the bus stop, and a soon-to-be 3rd grader:
