Saturday Somethings

Here's a new little feature for Saturdays. Many others do this and I like the idea. So, here are my Saturday Somethings!

Right now I am---

watching: Many episodes of Watch What Happens Live on my dvr

drinking:  A glass of water with lemon

wearing:  shorts and a Va Tech t-shirt

Eating: Special K with fruit and yogurt

listening: The Disney Channel

avoiding: vacuuming...not sure my foot is up to it, but it really needs to be done with this big fluffy cat in the house

wishing: for the impending end of the school year

feeling: antsy...being housebound is getting to me

missing: my family

thankful: that I haven't had much pain in my foot post surgery

craving: a yummy cheeseburger

wondering: if the removal of my stitches will hurt

praying: for lots of love and happiness

needing: the ability to drive a car again, SOON!

thinking: about this book that I just read...such a moving story . It was the first book that I downloaded and read on my iPad

dreaming: About my sister and niece coming for a visit in May

loving: Babybel cheeses

Randomness

It's time for my random ramblings:

This is one of my favorite lunch meals---babybel, laughing cow, crackers, grapes, strawberries, and unsweetened iced tea with lemon. I was lucky enough to eat it outside by the pool awhile back. Yum.

Shelly had an animal project that was due for her 2nd grade class. She was studying the dolphin and did a nice report on the dolphin, as well as, two posters to go along with it. She was proud of her hard work. And I was very proud of the fact that she completed it 3 weeks before it was due!!!!

Daisy hanging out on the stairs. She is such a fun and silly cat. We love having her around. her best friend in the family---John, of course! I think Shelly and I pick her up too often and she fears seeing us approaching her!! :)

I am going a tad bit crazy hanging out around the house---day and night!!! So, in the midst of my boredom I painted my toenails. I had to do some pretty odd maneuvering of my leg and foot, but I got those toes painted!

Happy Day

We had a sweet and simple birthday celebration on Tuesday. It was my birthday and I was still pretty much confined to the house at that point. Shelly was home sick with me on Tuesday. So we kept things simple.

The girls and John presented me with sweet gifts and balloons. A friend brought over dinner for our family. And, we had ice cream cake for dessert. It was all just perfect!
A Kitten book that Shelly bought for me at the book fair!

Love celebrating with my family.

The Spring Fling

This past Saturday Lily attended a dance called the Spring Fling. She went with two others friends and they all had a great time. John took Lily to get a manicure and pedicure the night before.

Love how pretty they all look. Hard to believe they are all growing up so quickly!

Post Surgery & My Nursing Staff

So, the surgery went well on Friday. I did not wake up mid-surgery...thankfully! For the next several days I am supposed to have my leg elevated.

I am pretty good about sticking to this regime. I am also lucky to have terrific nurses who take great care of me. Thankful for their help!

And, today they sprang me free from the house and let me ride in the back of the car while they ran errands. It was rainy out so I threw on a fashionable Target bag over my foot.

Prep for the Big Bone Spur Event

So today I am documenting a list of things to do before Friday (surgery day---Cheilectomy).

  • Cook up some freezer meals
  • Pick up Lily's Spring Fling dress from the cleaners
  • Vacuum all of the house
  • Clean all bathrooms
  • Dust the house
  • Straighten and organize house
  • Make back up plans for the girls in case the surgery goes long
  • Mentally prepare for this surgery (I have an unhealthy fear of coming out of the anesthesia before the surgery is over)
  • Make a list of the upcoming two weeks and the various activities occurring (can't drive for 2 weeks)
  • Be sure my iPad is charged
  • Update my podcasts on my iPod
  • Create a little downstairs case of all my essentials (some makeup, toothbrush, dry shampoo, hair tools, etc.)

The End!

Random Monday Musings

A bit of randomness today:

This is the sign I'd like to post in my car window. I've really noticed more people riding my tail and/or passing me on the roads lately. So---

My mom giving tours in NYC in Rockefeller Center in the 50s.

Love this picture of her.

My yearly calendar that I put together in February is working out well. So fun to document our lives in a few sentences. Can't wait to reread it next year while filling in the important stuff for that day in a new year.

Here's my Pinterest button if anyone is interested in following me over there. So many fun ideas---so little time!

Spring Break '12

Our Spring Break started on March 30th and the girls and I spent that day shopping...fun beginning!

Lily babysat the next two days--all day. While she was doing that, Shelly and I worked diligently on her animal project. It isn't due until the 23rd of April, but it felt great to have it all done.

On Tuesday evening we packed the car with suitcases, children, and a cat to head to Virginia Beach to see our family.

Once there, we hung out with my dad. We visited with John's family. We shopped with my sister and a friend of Lily's. We also were about 4 miles from the site where a USN F-18 crashed on Friday. Scary, but a true miracle that no one died! We got a chance to visit with some friends. And, we also made it to the beach for a walk, a chance to put our toes in the ocean, and watch some surfers.

We finished our trip on Sunday with a hunt for Easter baskets and an awesome brunch at my sister's. Then we packed the car to head back home complete with a furry sweet cat!
