Happy Fall

I finally changed out the silver tray chalkboard. And in honor of our southern roots and locale I went with this little phrase:

And look who joined me as my little couch kitty:

The Foot

Ok, I am five months post my cheilectomy procedure. Just wanted to provide an update.

I am able to go for my longer walks again. I have only worn one pair of closed shoes since the procedure...my tennis shoes. They feel fine on my feet. I am hopeful that once flip flop season is over I will be able to easily wear my regular shoes.

The scar on my toe is relatively small and not overly obvious. I'm thankful for that. Overall, I'm pleased with the progress of my toe and will continue to update with more info over the next several months.

Positive Thinking

I saw Michael J. Fox on the Ellen Degeneres show the other day. I was so impressed with this comment he made about positive thinking during the face of adversity.

The power of positive thinking is something Fox espouses through his life, his foundation and to his kids. "If you imagine the worst case scenario and it happens, you lived it twice," Fox said.

Made me stop and think about my constant habit of visualizing the worse so that I'm prepared if it actually happens. And, now maybe I'll just focus on the reality of the situation and try not to always borrow trouble!

Football at H-S

On Saturday, we went to Hampden-Sydney College for the football game. My nephew is a junior there and plays football. Unfortunately, he was injured in practice and couldn't play. He'll be having surgery on Thursday on his knee. So, please say a little prayer for him that all goes well.

My sister, brother-in-law, dad, and niece were all able to come to the game. So, we had a great time tailgating with everybody on a perfectly sunny fall day in Farmville.

Everyone brings their dogs and this little puppy was our favorite. So fun to watch the little puppy and the big dog play.

Year Book

Shelly decided to enter the yearbook design contest at her school. Their mascot is the bulldog. So, she looked at a picture of one and drew her interpretation. Unfortunately, on the first go around she drew it on 8.5x11 paper. It needed to be on legal sized paper. So, she went at it again and I thought she did a terrific job. She loves art and creating and this was the perfect chance for her to use those skills. Win or lose, she had fun doing this project.

A Fall Treat

Fall is fast approaching and that means it's time to put together some teacher gifts. We made little treat bags of a sea salt peanut and candy corn mix. And, added a fall Bath & Body Works hand sanitizer to the bag.

Always fun to celebrate the change of the season.

Pizza

Years ago, before I was married and had children, my friend gave me a great recipe for homemade pizza. The other night I pulled out that recipe and whipped up a pizza for the girls. They loved it and it was made to order!

Apparently it gives her power...

...And, big muscles!

Thanks, Anne, for the yummy recipe!!! Oh, and your handwriting has always been so pretty! Love it.

Tree Limbs

This is what I saw going down our driveway the other day. John was trimming limbs off of the trees in the back and loading them on to a trailer. He was dropping them off at a burn pile in the neighborhood. Thought it was such a funny sight.

Fall Breeze?

On Sunday the weather was so beautiful. You could almost sense that Fall was on its way...glorious cool temps, pumpkins, and falling leaves!

The girls wanted to get outside and play. Volleyballs were volleyed. Soccer balls were kicked. And chalk balance beams were created.

I am so eager for the Fall to get here! Love the change of the season.
