Turning 49

Last Friday I turned 49. Hard for me to believe. I really feel much younger at heart although I have aches and pains that make me feel a little older.

It was a super nice day. My mother-in-law was in town and we took a drive to a local gift shop and then decided to have a lunch of cream filled doughnuts. Yum!

My super sweet girls gave me some awesome gifts and made me precious birthday cards. John gave me so many beautiful plants and a super fun Bose speaker for out by the pool (or anywhere else we want to use it). And he also decorated the house with balloons and streamers---too cute.

After gift giving, we went to a favorite restaurant for dinner. It was a perfect night with my favorite people. Then we came home to enjoy a slice of ice cream cake. My favorite!  The perfect ending to a lovely day

And me at 49!

A Place in the Sun

This weekend I went to Virginia Beach to see my dad and my sister. We went to the beach to see the brick that my father purchased in my mom's memory. It's part of a brick walkway at Buff's Garden on 47th Street. Such a perfect spot, too. The view from the walkway looks out at the ocean. So glad that our family will have this place to go to and remember our mom.

5K Runners

Shelly and John participated in our local GoFar 5K run on Saturday morning. They both did a great job and Lily and I had fun cheering them on during the race.

Ready for the race!

Here's What's Happening

I haven't updated the blog in awhile. So, here's what been happening.

Last weekend Lily spent quite a bit of time working on her World History project. She wrote a research paper on Princess Diana's charitable contributions and she completed a rather detailed visual aid to go along with it. We all signed a breath of relief once the paper was completed and the project was turned in to her teacher.

My dad was hospitalized on Sunday and will hopefully be able to go home today. While he was in the hospital, my sister spent her time updating us and being there for my dad.

Shelly and John are preparing for a 5K race that they'll participate in tomorrow.

And in less important news, Daisy has started an Instagram account. Her name on Instagram is lechatdaisy and she'll be adding photos of her day to day activities.

Easter

At the end of our five days in Virginia Beach for Spring Break, we had a nice brunch celebration at my sister and brother-in-law's house.

Here are a few photos from our Easter morning and brunch.

Spring Break

We spent our five Spring Break (we lost several days of the break due to snow) in Virginia Beach.

We love to be able to see so much family when we're there. It's always busy and fun.
