Zone Update

I've been hard at work on my zones and my purging schedule. I have realized as I've been cleaning these areas that I am really concerned with purging items. I have done a little organizing as I go, but for now the organizing and deep cleaning will wait. It sure has felt good to get rid of things I didn't even remember that I owned.

I collected numerous organizing crates, baskets, and containers as I've gone through the house. Those will be stored for future use.

The girls got into the act this weekend with their bathroom. They did a great job and I think the "zone" cleaning is rubbing off on them!

Here's my updated zone list:

In the office, I still need to go through my papers and file them in new folders with updated labels. Another area that needs attention is John's closet and dresser area. But, I felt like that was something he should do and not me. Other than that, I am feeling pretty good about my progress. I still have three zones left to organize...attic/eaves, outdoors, and the garage.

Zoning Out

I'm ready to do some major cleaning out in this house! I decided the best way for me to go about this major cleaning adventure is to break the house down into zones. So, I came up with ten zones for our house. The zones were determined by the placement of these spots in my home. I am being really brutal and tough with junk in these zones. I have tackled zone 1, 2, and part of 3 already and I am feeling good about the bags of items that are already at the Goodwill, as well as, the things that made it to the trash!!!

The best part of my plan? No pressure!!! I don’t have unrealistic time frames for completing these zones. And, I think that in itself is motivating me more. I like this plan.

I did go out of the zones and collected all (but one) of my fake trees and I am getting rid of them. I have some really nice trees that I spent quite a bit of money on and I hate to just donate them. So, they may be for sale on facebook or craigslist, soon.

Oh, and John made a funny comment the other day. When he got home, he said it looked like we were moving!!! Ha Ha. I told you, I’m being brutal with this purging of junk idea.
