Run, Paint, and Lunch Bags

Lily had friends over and they had a paint party. Looked like fun and a lot of clean up.

Shelly and John ran in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.

Lily volunteered at school helping to fill lunch bags for the homeless.

Painted Coffee Table

Last week, Shelly, John and I went to the DAV Thrift Shop and looked for a desk for Shelly. Unfortunately, we were unable to find her a desk, but I did come across this coffee table that needed a little love. It was only $29 and I thought I could give her a coat of paint (or two) and renew her look.

Original look of table (iphone photo)

We weren't sure about a coffee table in our den, but I thought it would be nice for the other couch area to have a little something there. So, for $29 and about $10 worth of paint, I thought I'd give it a go.

I am really happy with the way the table turned out and I was very impressed with the chalkboard paint I used. It's Dixie Belle paints in Sea Glass and Drop Cloth.

I also added a tray from TJ Maxx ($16.99) with some books, a candle from TJ Maxx (actually got 2 for $6.99), a faux succulent plant ($7.50) from Michael's, and the little sailboat (can't remember the price) is from a local beachy shop called Tin Soldiers Forgotten Treasures.

Overall, I'm happy with the low cost option for a coffee table and I'm enjoying the look.

Daisy in Watercolor

For Christmas, Shelly received a really cool art set. She set to work on some new paintings and decided to freshen up Daisy's food area with a portrait of her. I loved the soft colors she chose and was proud that she worked so hard on it.

I'm looking forward to what other cool projects she will create in the year ahead!

Paint!!!

Ok, the story goes like this...the paint guy gives me an estimate on Monday and says his guys will be here on Saturday. We wait alllllllllll day Saturday and the guys are a no-show! I am beyond annoyed about it and finally get a hold of the paint guy on Sunday evening. So, they come first thing Monday morning...thankfully.

And here are the before and after shots:

Shelly's room before with her four paint colors on the walls:

After is all pink:

Our bedroom with its not so pretty green walls...ok, I admit this was not my best color choice:

And now, a calm and warm autumn wheat:

The master bathroom with the builder beige walls:

Now the master bathroom is a deeper taupe than the original beige (a little tricky to see in the photo):

The girls play area/hangout spot...another not so great wall color that I chose:

From orange to a calm and light pink:

More photos after the rooms are set up and back in one piece.
