Thanksgiving Weekend

We were very busy over the weekend. John's family was with us on Thanksgiving day. 

On Black Friday, I shopped with my sisters and the girls shopped with their cousin. After shopping, we met for lunch and then we all gathered at my sister's house for dinner later. We took that opportunity to get a few photos of the cousins with their grandpa and some miscellaneous pictures with Fynley!

It was a fun time. We also began decorating for Christmas and we went to John's sister's house for dinner with a ton of people on Saturday night. We finished off the weekend at the neighbor's for a fun chili cook off party. The weekend was busy and filled with food and lots of fun!

Spruced Up

I decided that the guest bedroom needed a fresh new look. I have been searching and searching for a comforter set that combined the lighter colors with a shabby chic look. And then I found it. I was at Target and was ready to plunk down the cash for a lime greenish colored one I had seen there before. As I scanned the aisles I turned the cart into the kids' area (not the themed kids' stuff). And on the shelf I found the perfect set from the Shabby Chic (perfect) line. It came with the comforter, bedskirt, pillowcases, sheets, and shams. And all for $76...not bad. 

Then I hit TJ Maxx for some decorative throw pillows for the bed and lightweight white curtains. I came home and washed up the set and immediately set up the room. These pictures show varying hues for the color of the comforter. It was hard to capture the actual color with the camera. I just love the ruffle detail down the side. Now, my guests can snuggle up in this inviting cozy bed.

Decorations and Such---

We worked on trees, trains, and decorations this weekend. It was a rewarding process this weekend and it felt so cozy inside once the tree was up and lit in the den. The lighting for my photos seems a bit off, but here are the decorations:

One of the advent activities was to make snowflakes. This is such a fun and addictive project. We went a little snowflake crazy:

This is a real tree from a North Carolina tree farm. John has a couple of customers who are tree farmers and one of them gave him this tree for the girls. So sweet. And the paper chain was created by me and the girls with scrapbook paper.

Wall

John and I decided over the summer that it would be fun to collect some items to put on our wall by the guest bedroom. We both like funny, whimsical things that don't really scream ADULT. So, we went with some off the wall items and it is continuing to evolve. The fun part is incorporating a wide variety of things...some old, some new, and some not so conventional. Though the collection is small I feel its momentum building. Incidentally, the wall is next to the bathroom with the restroom sign and the glowing blue water faucet.

This is post number 222!!! Cool, reminds me of Room 222...does anyone else remember that show from the 70's? Anyway, I am off track.

This post is about the bedding I ordered for Lily's room. It was back ordered until the 31st of July. I got an email on Wednesday that said it was in and shipping!! Woo Hoo. I tracked it about every 12 hours and of last night it was in Charlotte...yippy! And this morning at about 10, the Fed Ex guy arrived with my box...Yee Haw!!! So we opened it up, ironed the bed skirt, and put it on the bed. It is so super cute. We still need new window treatments and some wall decor, but I am loving it. I am also including some pictures of Shelly's bedding for her sweet little twin bed. I am happy with the results. I think it will be a nice way to start out a new school year with fun new bedding. So, we decided on a set of bedding for Lily's room. This is by Little MissMatched and everything but the bed skirt are reversible. This company is the same one that creates the cute miss matched socks that Lily loves...really her all time favorites!!! So, I am hoping for some good quality out of this bedding. Well, I think three posts in a day is probably sufficient. So, off to bed we'll go!
