The making of the gingerbread houses is typically a difficult task. The icing they provide to hold the walls together isn't always trusty and we have had several gingerbread houses collapse on us.
So, this year Shelly and I decided to use hot glue to put those walls together (knowing that these were for decoration and would not be eaten). And, gingerbread decorating was instantly a success...no more sliding walls and dripping candy.
Our masterpieces were complete and I added them to our retro Christmas scene on the kitchen table. The red VW bug was mine as a little girl (circa 1974). Loved adding a little tree to the top and then surrounding the VW with the gingerbread village.
