Big City to Big Mountains

After our visit to NYC, Shelly and I were on the move once again. On Wednesday, we headed to the mountains of NC with a large group of first graders and their parents for three days. We had a bit of car trouble getting out of town, but once that was resolved we had a great time. The weather was terrific (oh, except for those tornado warnings on Wednesday night---thankfully the tornadoes missed us).

We started at the Old Fort, climbed a mountain, rode a train, went gem mining, visited the Indian settlement of Cherokee, toured a mountain farm settlement, ate at Granny's Chicken Palace, saw a fish hatchery, visited Looking Glass Falls, and took long rides in the mountains. It was a fun-filled trip with my little 7 year-old. Thankful that my girls' school offers them so many opportunities.
