July 2018

In July, Lily continued working as a babysitter and drove children to their activities. Shelly was hard at work with her online Health and PE class.

Lily took a bus trip to NYC with her friends and saw some Broadway shows.

We went to Smith Mountain Lake and really liked the condo where we stayed this year. We rented a boat and brought Fynley along for all the fun. From there, Lily and I drove to VA Tech for her orientation. We learned so much about what was ahead of her after all of the meetings and discussion sessions.

We loved days at the beach and on the jet ski. Time with friends and time as a family of four.

Beach Photos

Lily is loving photography lately and she took these great pictures recently. I enlarged the pier photo and framed it for over our bed.  Love it.

Catching Up

So, it's been quite awhile since I posted here. A goal of mine for 2018 is to resurrect my blog. I'm hoping to stop by with more frequent updates of our life. 2018 marks the year that Lily will graduate from high school and I feel I will regret it if I don't post more on the blog about all of the events leading up to that big day.

My posts will probably be a bit random as I attempt to update. So, let's get started.

John and Shelly went on an epic bike ride all over Virginia Beach back in October.

The girls are both very into photography and went to the bay to take some really fun photos of one another.

Lily was involved in the City Wide SCA Elementary Leadership Workshop in early November. She loved participating and did a great job encouraging and leading the younger leaders.

Wrapping up this update, we had a great time at my sister's house for Thanksgiving. Lots of food, fun, and games!

Random Update

So it's been awhile since I last blogged. I'll try to catch up with some of the very random things that have been happening.

We've spent quite a bit of time at the beach and just started using my dad's pool which has been great. Love the warm sunshine.

The girls have been busy with the last week of school and that means completing assignments, taking exams, and wrapping up activities in class.

Lily applied for the SCA Executive Board for next year and she was accepted for another year. Very proud of her motivated attitude. She was also asked to be a part of the National Honor Society's Executive Board for next school year.

Shelly has been working hard on her SOL tests and giving it her best. She is a hard worker who is always committed to her school work.

Fynley continues to add so much love and happiness to our lives. We are lucky to have this little Peekapoo.

We've enjoyed some nights eating outside at various restaurants. We love the gliders at Rudee's.

Shelly helped John clean the roof and sky lights on top of our porch. When she was done helping, she climbed through her bedroom window!

We attended a graduation party for one our good friends' daughter.

Shelly has made a couple trips to Greensboro for her orthodontist appointments. The most recent trip included the knowledge that at her next appointment, she will have her braces taken off!!! So proud of her and all that she has done to be extra responsible with her braces.

Always being silly with their cousin.

Snow to Sand

A couple weeks ago, we went from 6 degree days with snow to 69 degree days in the sun at the beach. It was a crazy few days in our area.

Hermine

We anticipated the arrival of tropical storm Hermine over the Labor Day weekend. We went to 80th street to see the beach on Friday night. The winds were starting and we watched a couple guys kite boarding in the strong winds. Hermine's impact was much less than expected and for that I am very grateful.
