Belated Happy Birthday

My dad celebrated his birthday on Saturday night with our family and my sister's family. We went out for Mexican food, at his request. Afterward we convened at my sister's house for dessert. The best thing about this birthday celebration was that my family of four could be there with him. And he's the best looking octogenarian I know! Happy 83rd, pop!

Listen to Your Parents

I mentioned in my previous post about the support my mother always gave me. I wanted to share that I'm 49 and my dad is 82 and he still gives me great advice and knows what to say to make me feel better.

And, I still go to him looking for that encouragement and support. I'm so grateful for the love of my parents. It makes my job easier, as a mother, to be able to recall the awesome parenting that I had as a child. Thanks, dad.

Here's What's Happening

I haven't updated the blog in awhile. So, here's what been happening.

Last weekend Lily spent quite a bit of time working on her World History project. She wrote a research paper on Princess Diana's charitable contributions and she completed a rather detailed visual aid to go along with it. We all signed a breath of relief once the paper was completed and the project was turned in to her teacher.

My dad was hospitalized on Sunday and will hopefully be able to go home today. While he was in the hospital, my sister spent her time updating us and being there for my dad.

Shelly and John are preparing for a 5K race that they'll participate in tomorrow.

And in less important news, Daisy has started an Instagram account. Her name on Instagram is lechatdaisy and she'll be adding photos of her day to day activities.

My Two Favorite Dads

Happy Father's Day!

I am so happy to have such an amazing father. He has always been there for me through the ups, the downs, and all of the in between days. He's such a dedicated dad and a loving grandpa. I love him so much!

My other favorite dad is John! He loves his girls so much. Everything he does is motivated by his love for his daughters. I'm so grateful that I not only found a man who is a great husband but an awesome dad.

Memorial Day

Today we are thinking of the men and women who selflessly served in the military and lost their lives for the freedom of all Americans.

In addition, I am grateful for my father, my brother-in-law, and my nephew who all are/have served in the Navy to protect our freedoms.

Lt. Commander James Ruesch

Just have to share this neat video that Lily made for her Social Studies class about my dad. The assignment was to interview someone they knew who was involved in the military.

Lily added actual video clips that were taken by my dad during the time he served on the USS Valley Forge.

Terrific Dads

A big huge HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my dad, today!

I am lucky enough to be blessed with a super father. As a little girl I loved hanging out with my dad and he was always so patient and willing to help me. As a teenager I took my dad's good advice to heart and tried to make the best decisions based on what he had taught me. And as an adult, my dad set the bar VERY high for other men in my life. By his example, I knew that I was looking for a guy who knew how to respect and love their wife.

Today, I still count on my dad for all of the above. It is a special man/father who raises three happy and well adjusted women and that is exactly what my dad did.

Love you, pop!

My dad and the sock monkey!!!

As I mentioned above, I was looking for just the right man and when I found him I just knew that he would be a great dad, too.

John is a funny, loving, and helpful father and our girls are so lucky to call him daddy.

Happy Father's Day to two of the best dads around!

Shelly's 8th Birthday

Shelly turned 8 on Monday. I just can't believe it. What a great little girl she is! She makes us smile and laugh and is always there to help. I love her to pieces.

My dad was in town for her birthday and it was nice to have him here to spend time with us.

Daisy eyeballing all of the gifts

We made her another cake for her birthday. She opened her gifts in the morning and we had cake in the evening. Lily took hold of the camera to take some fun evening photos of Shelly.

Shelly was lucky to have the day off of school on her birthday. So, the next day my dad and I went to her class with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and we made simple little candy (milk duds) packs for her classmates.
