Berry Pie

I found a recipe for a really yummy berry pie on Pinterest. So, Shelly and I whipped it up on Father's Day for John (and the family).

I improvised a little with the recipe because I didn't have any raspberries. So, I just threw in a few frozen berries to the mix. And, I didn't add the marmalade glaze on top because John isn't a fan of orange marmalade.

When I served it I added a dollop of whip cream. It was really delicious!

Fall Food

Photobucket

PhotobucketThese three ingredients turned into these yummy muffins.

The recipe came from this fun food/cooking site. They were a big hit with my girls. Shelly said they were the "bestest muffins in the whole world"! And there were plenty to take to the tailgate party and to send into school for the girls' teachers. Oh, and I made about 2 dozen mini muffins and about 18 large muffins from this recipe, and I still have more batter for a few more minis.

Pocketless Pita Pizzas

For dinner the other night we decided to have pita pizzas. My sister recommended these yummy pocketless pitas from Costco. So, I gave them a try. She prepares her pizzas and grills them. We had a rainy evening when I fixed these so I just baked them in the oven at 375 for about 7-10 minutes.

It's fun for kids to create their own food masterpieces...seems they are more willing to eat what they make. Lily even had a second pizza---I think she shared some of it with Shelly.

Our simple ingredients were:

Pocketless pitas, Pizza sauce, mozzerella cheese, pepperoni, roasted red peppers, carmelized onions, and chopped artichokes

Our cute new Target plates make the pizza even yummier

Bake and enjoy!!! Fun dinner!

Inspirations

I have stolen (been inspired by) some fun ideas from around the blog world and wanted to share my versions and the originals with you.

First, I got busy with some of the teacher gifts for Lily's specialists (art, music, bus driver, etc.) and Shelly's teachers and the director of her school.

I saw the cute idea for gifts and the adorable digi kit at this site. I purchased the eye masks and nail files at Bath and Body Works and packaged it with the candy bar. For Shelly's teachers, I added a cute little gift set from B&BW, in addition to the other items. I still need to put something together for Lily's main teachers, but I have a couple of weeks to work on that.

Here is my version of the gift bags with the printed tags at Heidi's site. I also found this cute idea here for the gift bags and attempted to create the same look on mine.

Another stolen idea came from this site and this site. They created a little chalkboard using a silver tray. I have several silver trays that don't get much use and I thought I should try my hand at this fun little craft. So, I created my very own chalkboard with just a little chalkboard paint and a tray. Very easy to do and lots of cute factor once it's finished.

And to round out my idea stealing extravaganza, I saw this fun little cookie/cake for the holiday weekend and thought I'd give it a go. I didn't have the sugar cookie dough and didn't feel like driving the 20 minutes to the grocery store to purchase it, so I improvised with a double batch of the cookie-cake mix recipe. Then I completed the cookie/cake with the same items listed in her recipe. It was really cute and a big hit with kids and adults alike. It was a nice dessert for a crowd.
