Project Life

If you're a scrapbooker, I'm sure you've already heard about Project Life. It's a simplified way of scrapbooking without the hassle. It incorporates journaling with photos and best of all, I can do it digitally and print out my 8x8 pages directly from their app. It is so easy to keep up with my photos and pages because I can do it right from my iPad. I'm really hoping to keep up with it in 2016.

Here are some of my recently scrapped pages:

Scrapping

On our list of things to complete before the summer ends, we included scrapbooking our summer photos. The girls got to work and powered through for about three hours creating their books.

They reminisced and discussed some of the activities that were highlights of their summer. It was fun to spend some time thinking about the fun times we had---Darius Rucker concert (and Shelly's first concert), Busch Gardens, Linville Caverns, Ikea trip, and so much more.

Slowly but surely we are working on closure. It's always hard to say goodbye to summer, but exciting to see what lies ahead for them.

Ribbon Storage

For years I have stored my collection of ribbons in glass jars. These jars were not the most effective way to keep the ribbons looking good. So, after seeing this super smart idea, I went to work creating my own ribbon storage plan. I just used some cardboard found in a box that we got in the mail, as well as, some corrugated (the official name of this cardboard)from a few extra boxes that my husband sells (he's a box guy). I didn't take too much time making sure the pieces were all the same size. I prepared the ribbons and tried to arrange them by color (for the most part).

Then they went into this cute little Ikea tin.

I kept one of the jars in the tin and it holds some new ribbons and my collection of twine.

The tin slides right into my craft storage cabinet and holds all of the ribbons in its neat little box. Easy and organized!!!

Paper & Glue Layouts

So with the introduction of this scanner into my life, I can now show some of my "real" scrapbooking layouts. I scanned some of the 8 1/2"x11"s that I have on hand. Here are a few:

I also scrap in 6x6 and 12x12. If I can figure out how to scan and stitch the 12x12s, I'll post some of those, as well.

07.20.07

It is a quiet and beautiful morning here in NC. The sun is rising and I am ready to go for my walk. That feels good. I have slacked on the walks this summer and I can tell it is effecting my mood.

I just read one of my favorite blogs this morning and found that my little blog was mentioned on her site. Oh my gosh! How cool is that??? So perhaps more than just my devoted mother and sisters will read these words. Guess I better say something profound...oops, probably no fear of that happening!

We did some reorganizing of bedrooms the other night. Shelly now has a single twin in her room and Lily has the full size bed in her room. I think it will work out well since both girls sleep in Lily's room and they will have more space for their nighttime rest. We found an adorable quilt and sham set at Marshall's for Shelly and hoping to get something for Lily. She is leaning toward the Hawaiian/surf inspired themes.

Ok, off to walk. But, of course I'll leave with a few photos and digi pages to peruse:

07.02.07

Busy fun this weekend. John and I went to see this movie on Friday night and thought it was very funny. Good to go to the theaters and see something worth watching. We also made a pit stop here for appetizers beforehand...yummy!

Saturday we did some organizing around the house and then Lily's friend came over to spend the night. I finished going through our expansive CD collection in the office. It was full of computer related cds, picture cds, and scrapbooking layout cds. So, I took some time and purged the unecessary cds and filed (in order) the other cds. Now they all have a happy home and I can access necessary info at a moment's notice.

Saturday night we took the girls (and friend) to see Ratatouille. The girls all seemed to love it and I thought it was fine...not great not bad. After the movie, we hit Chik-Fil-A for dinner and playing and then home to rest.

Sunday John and I put down a rug in the dining room and it really spruced up the appearance of that room. Then we headed to Lowe's for various items to complete an outdoor project. John is hard at work on a small walk area at the bottom of our deck stairs and he is doing a great job with it. He hopes to complete it today.

I also got a little pot to put the Peace Lily in and it is making me happy to see some live greenery in our home. I most definitely do not have a green thumb and I look forward to keeping this little plant alive.

And for some who might be interested, here is the photo album system I am using. It has a variety of sizes in it (12x12, 8.5x11, and 6x6) and a variety of styles...both paper and digital.

Happy first week in July!

06.11.07

I have a few things to mention here at the blog. So, this will be a bit random.

Last Friday, the girls had a whole day of playing school. Lily set up the school room with a white board, art activity, math worksheets, and story time. We even used our cafeteria trays for lunch. It was fun and, of course, warmed my heart to see her teaching away.

Amidst all of the school fun, I received my prize package from the Making Memories giveaway. The girls and I were all so excited to break into the box. Once we did there was oodles of pink every where!!! From the album, to the brads, to the paper, and stickers, and the ribbon...awesome!!!!!! I was so excited!

On Saturday, I purchased a new iHome boom box for the kitchen. I am so in love with my iPod that I wanted to be able to listen to it in the mornings while I get us breakfast and in the evenings while making dinner. It is super duper cool and I was happy to get a great deal on it...$79.99 regular price, marked down to $65.99 because the car charger was missing, and then 20% off of that! Yippy. Oh, and there was a car charger in it...go figure. Since our new ride has the iPod playing feature in it, the charger wasn't a big deal...but now we have one.

The new iHome led me into doing this...downloading our cds onto iTunes and then making their way onto my iPod. This little adventure took me quite a bit of time. We decided to hang onto the cds, box them up and put them in the attic. OH, and notice my interesting collection of music right there...Faith Hill, Kenny G, John Mayer, Patsy Cline, REM, Martina McBride, and Boys II Men...doesn't get much more random than that! Mixed in here and there, I was able to do a couple more digi layouts. I switched to a new album system and it has really made me feel so much better about how I will save my layouts...both digital and paper can be in the same album and the sizes can vary...very liberating.

Today, we are off to the library. We have decided that Monday will be library day...like that. Well, have a good one and stay cool.
