As part of the advent calendar activities the other night, the girls wrote letters to Santa and then we mailed them to this address:
North Polar - Santa Claus
P.O. Box 56099
North Pole, Alaska 99705-1099
Not so sure what happens once the letters arrive in Alaska, but thought it was fun to give it a try. We have also emailed Santa Claus at this web site: http://www.emailsanta.com/ and they provide a nice little letter in return. The girls love all of this Santa stuff.
Some additional items for the advent calendar have included:
making brownies and packaging them for some neighbors
making foam holiday door hangers
coins
lip smackers
ornaments
And here are some ideas to come:
new fluffy socks
new gloves
new holiday soaps
candy canes
"Bolt"ing to the movies
modeling clay to create with
breakfast for dinner
popcorn and a movie
play a game as a family
sorting through toys to donate to those in need
shopping for an "angel" for Christmas
making glitter snowflake garlands
making holiday cookies and giving to others
The other big thing in the house is the Shelf Elf. There is a marketed Shelf Elf with a book that sells for $30 and is very cute. I chose to create my own version with a store bought $5 elf who arrives in the morning and then goes back to visit Santa at night with info about the girls' behavior. The girls love looking for him each morning and it's a nice reminder that Santa is watching.
