Sideways Golf Cart

John was replacing the batteries in our golf cart the other day. I walked out into the garage to find this---

Big Daisy

Sweet little Daisy is getting bigger every day. She is fast approaching her 10 month birthday and she is just the sweetest kitten/cat around. She loves to relax on the back of the couch. And she likes to guard over her people!

Ready to play in the snow...rain boots and all

Well, we finally got our first snow of the year in NC! Thankfully, it arrived on a day the girls were already out of school. So no make up days involved!!!!!!

College Road Trip

After all of the car drama, we got to spend a great weekend with my niece at University of Mary Washington. My nephew was also there for part of the time because his lacrosse team was playing against her school. And, my sister and brother-in-law came for one of the nights that we were there.

"Lucky" Incidents

Let me say I have some pretty unusual luck. Like the time the car hit me and Shelly while we were sitting in a golf cart or the time the deer ran out in front of us and hit our car. On one hand, we weren't so lucky to be hit by a car, but on the other hand Shelly walked away from that accident with only a tiny scratch on her face. And, when the deer hit us, the car was pretty beat up but we were fine...scared, but all in one piece.

So, I guess it was time to add to our series of oddly "lucky" incidents. The girls and I were headed to Fredericksburg, VA to see my niece at college. It was a pretty easy and fun drive with the girls. We were on Interstate 95 checking out all of the various car/truck license plates and singing along to an old CD. At right about that moment, we heard a loud bang (much like an explosive gun shot sound) and I turned toward my driver side window to see the glass shattering from the window into the car. I was able to move the car off of the road onto the right shoulder. It was a scary few moments of assessing what had just happened and deciding what to do next.

So, I called 911 and waited as the VDOT assistance guy arrived. Then the EMTs came to check on us and finally the VA state trooper. There was much speculation as to what might have happened, but no clear determination.

We were .4 of a mile from our exit and so we went to our hotel, checked in and I called the auto glass people. We were able to get the car window covered and the glass cleaned up on Friday night with an appointment for the following morning to replace the window.

On Saturday morning they replaced the window in about 30 minutes and we were as good as new.

And, that ends yet another story in our series of "lucky" incidents!

The Simple Things

It really is the simple things in life that make my heart sing. I use John's (very) old iPhone as my version of an iPod Touch. It basically does everything but make phone calls. I had the same cover for over a year and then suddenly noticed it was looking icky. So, I lucked out and found a cover for a 3G at TJ Maxx for $4.99. It was pink and sparkly and cheap...perfect.

❤ Gifts for Teachers

We put together some little Valentine's Day gifts for the girls' teachers. Their two main teachers received little pocket mirrors from B and BW, a ring made by me, and a bag of Hershey's Hugs.

For their other teachers, we made bags of Hugs, as well as, the pretzel, Hugs, M&Ms treats from last year.

I particularly liked the sweet gift bags I found at Target. So bright and cheery!

Love is in the Air

Happy Valentine's Day to all!!!!

Just wanted to share some things that I did for my three Valentine's in my house.

Last night I put together a little place mat setting for the girls for their breakfast in the morning. It included a simple heart doily with a paper towel cut in the shape of a heart, a red cup, and a sweet little Valentine note for each of the girls.

Then for their lunch, I made another place mat heart doily with a love note from me, and a Lindt chocolate. I placed them all in a sandwich bag and included it in their lunch box.

And I have the table set and a decoration or two out for when they get home from school. We'll share Valentine's day cards and little gifts before we have dinner.

Here is John's simple and silly little gift:

And the girls' gift bags with a heart necklace, chocolates, fun pens and pencils, an owl lotion, and a cool girls' magazine for each of them.
