Eric the Lacrosse Player

We were so lucky to have my nephew in town playing lacrosse against Greensboro College. It was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. So, we headed to see his team (Hampden-Sydney) play! And, they WON!!! So fun to see him and to be able to watch him play. I am a very proud aunt.

Hippity Hoppity Garland

The girls and I put together a fun little bunny garland for the mantle. I saw this idea and thought it was perfect and simple.

It really allowed for some creativity while decorating them. We only used the Q-tips to paint and I liked only using that tool for painting.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mother's 81st birthday. I hope that heaven is throwing her a big gala event. My mom always knew how to throw a great birthday party. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve my birthday parties. So, today I hope she gets the party she deserves. Wish I could give her a big hug and a kiss. Love you, mom!

Duke Field Trip

So, after the deer incident, I met Lily and her friends at the Museum of Life and Science. I was only there long enough to see the Butterfly House, but the girls all said it was a fun museum.

From there, we went to Duke University for a tour. We had lunch in the gardens (so pretty) and then began a visit of the campus. Such a beautiful school. And, it was a fun chance to stand on the Duke basketball court...even for the many who were UNC fans!

Oh Dear---Part Deux

Ready for this one????  Wait for it....I hit a deer yesterday morning! I was on my way to the middle school with Lily and two of her friends for a field trip. It was really dark out (about 6:15 a.m.) and out of nowhere a deer slammed into the hood of my car!

Really!!!

I know this probably sounds like a joke. How can one woman have this many strange events involving a car in less than 5 years! But, it's true.

Deer fur galore!!!

We are all okay (I had a few minor bumps and bruises)!!! Yay! And the girls handled it all perfectly (they were all fine!).

A friend happened on the scene of the accident and was able to take the three girls with her to the middle school. They made it in time to attend their field trip. I stayed behind to deal with the tire that was stuck in a ditch and to give the state trooper all of my info. Once again, damage to the front of the car---hood, grill, headlights, fog lights, etc., as well as, air bags going off and a broken seat belt to replace.

Deer dent

The car was still operable. So, I made it back home and John drove me to Durham (in his vehicle) to catch up with the kids on the field trip.
Missing Nissan symbol
(If you see a doe emblazoned with a Nissan logo, I think it might belong to me)

Just another exciting day in the country!!!! To read about my other vehicular incidents...#1, #2, #3.

High Heels + Narrow Toe Box =

My poor feet have suffered from my many years of wearing high heels with a very narrow toe box. The results are bone spurs and soon I will have a surgery to remove the bone spur on my right foot. I am praying that I will be able to bend my big toe again!
Foot Disclaimer: sorry you have to look at my feet for this post. I am completely not a fan of feet. Ick!!!!

Word to the wise: watch those narrow toe/high heeled shoes.

Trees

I love to see the trees blooming around our house this time of year. Here's a little sampling of the blooming trees:
